Our goal is to connect Fine Art and Fitness (we do a bunch of acrobatic training, and Coach Lee, one of the founders, is an artist/painter).

Pacific Rim Athletics and Blaine’s Art are partnering to host an art competition/show at the Eagle River Market.

And we’re inviting you (and/or your students) to take part.

$1,000 Prize for Adult Division
$600 for Junior Division

HERE’S EXACTLY WHAT TO DO…

Pacific Rim Athletics Presents “Spectrum,” a Drawing & Painting Competition

At Pacific Rim Athletics, June 26th, 2022

Plus LIVE Powerbatics Competition & Circus Arts Demos/Workshops

And MANY people will be there for food, vendors, and activities.

So many people will get to see your work!  Potentially purchase!  Ask for commissions!  And you have the opportunity to win the awards (see below).

And it’s easy to do!

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS…

Use a previously made piece of art and/or create a new one…that’s it!

Theme:  Color and Movement (can be figures, portraits, abstracts)

Drawing/Painting (any medium [pencil, chalk, acrylic, oil, airbrush, etc.], min. 8×10 in., max. 5×7 ft.)

2 categories:  1. Adult Division 18+ and 2. Junior Division 12-17 years old

All works must be original; compositions based on other artists’ work are NOT eligible.

Art must be turned in on time.

We reserve the right to reject work that’s unsuitable or doesn’t meet the above criteria.

Please do not submit images which would be inappropriate for general audiences.

AWARDS

$1,000 Best of Show Adult Division 18+

$600 Best of Show Junior Division 12-17

1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Medals in each category

SELLING ART

We do NOT take a commission 🙂  Awards and purchases go 100% to the artist!!!

Please include email, phone, website for contact information for potential purchases of your art.  

STEP 1:  JURY FEE (non-refundable) by JUNE 3rd, 2022…extended to JUNE 9th, 2022

A credit card or debit card payment is acceptable for the required jury fee (in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank) must be paid online in advance of entry.  Click here to enter your secure payment.

STEP 2:  SEND DIGITAL IMAGES VIA EMAIL by JUNE 3rd, 2022

All work will be juried in advance of the show.

You must submit a digital image of your piece by the Deadline along with your jury fee.

DEADLINE FOR DIGITAL PRE-ENTRY & JURY FEE

All entries/payment must be entered no later than JUNE 3rd, 2022…extended to JUNE 9th, 2022

JURYING

Entries will be prejudged and finalists will be chosen by juror.  All properly prepared entries will be viewed, juried, and judged.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE INTO SHOW

You will be notified if your work is accepted into this jury show by JUNE 10th, 2022.

DELIVERING YOUR ACCEPTED ENTRY

If your art is accepted into this show, here are the requirements for delivery:

• Anything delivered not according to requirements may be disqualified
• Dried (no wet surfaces)
• Ready to hang (a wire firmly secured on the back of the piece)
• If using matting, basic white matte only
• Basic framing only, no ornate framing
• Bring your entry between the hours of 4pm and 8pm to Pacific Rim Athletics 10950 Mausel St. B8 Eagle River Alaska 99577 between JUNE 20-23rd, 2022.

WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

Winners will be announced during the event JUNE 26th, 2022.  The results will not otherwise be made public until they are published (you will be alerted via email).

PICKING UP ARTWORK

Artwork will be picked up on JUNE 27th, 2022 between 4pm and 8pm at Pacific Rim Athletics.  We will not be responsible for the loss, damage, or return of any artwork submitted to the competition.

ART CATALOG

We anticipate publishing a full-color hard-cover book catalog of paintings juried into this competition.  Award winners will be featured and all accepted entries will be shown and listed by artist alphabetically.  If entries are insufficient to justify catalog publication, we reserve the right to cancel catalog printing.  Published copies will be made available on our website at a price of $59.95.
